According to mbl.is, Restaurateur Stefán Magnússon could face up to six years in prison after being charged with 100 million krona in tax evasion. Stefán ran Reykjavík MEAT and the restaurant in Sjáland in Gardabaer until they went bankrupt.
According to mbl.is, the restaurateur is accused of failing to pay public taxes, that were withheld from the salaries of employees of the two restaurants.
The District Prosecutor’s Office charges Stefán with having defrauded over 32 million ISK as the Managing Director of Steikar ehf. 2020-2022, and then defrauded over 68 million ISK as the Managing Director of Gourmet ehf. in the years 2021-2023.
Both companies are now bankrupt.
