The list of shame – skammarlistinn in Icelandic – is a compilation of companies and workplaces appearing in the news for alleged abuse of workers.

Wage-theft, harassment, volunteering scam, and other form of abuse are way too common in Iceland, with almost no legal consequences when reported.

We compile, summarise, and translate in English public information to empower workers.

The list of shame is only the tip of the ice(land)berg. We all know that they are many more abusing workplaces in Iceland preying on precarious workforce. In order to protect both workers and ourselves, we can only share what has been reported by journalists and published.

We thank the workers for their testimonies, and for their bravery to publicly share their story in order to warn others. We encourage more to do so.

We believe the workers. We don’t forget what happened.
